BasketShop is pleased to present the work of Texas artist, Brandon Thompson. Thompson’s paintings and sculptures are influenced by the black experience in the Southern Bible Belt. Black Boy Fly will present the artist’s first showing of his clay sculptures to accommodate his paintings.

In response to the national uprising, Thompson has created a comic book publication: Adventures of Black Boy Fly- as a vehicle to impart the kind of superhero that he wanted to see growing up, one that spoke to his personal narrative and experience. Fly, the comic’s protagonist, fights his villains while contemplating his powers and what their actions do for his world.

Thompson is an artist living and working in Cedar Hill and Dallas TX. In 2018, he earned a BA in Graphic Design University of Texas in Arlington. His painting was recently featured in the 144th edition of New American Paintings. Thompson shows across Nationally and locally in his hometown with RO2 Art in Dallas TX.

For the safety of all, the gallery will be open to one household at a time, by appointment and open to viewing from the sidewalk. We look forward to serving our community as best we can in this time of needed hope and inspiration. The gallery will hold an artist's reception at the end of the show if it is safe to do so at that time.
